Whilst much of the focus has been on potential outgoings, Aston Villa have now reportedly made their first move to sign a new midfielder for Unai Emery.
Aston Villa transfer news
Those at Villa Park would have been hoping to feel the financial power of being a Champions League side this summer. That's been anything but the case, however. Instead, the Midlands club are among the sides who must raise funds before the end of June if they want to avoid breaking the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules.
Those rules have already resulted in one exit, with young midfielder Tim Iroegbunam completing a move to Everton worth a reported £9m, and there looks to be more on the cards.
Fast transfer possible as Aston Villa eye £42m Bayern target amid Luiz exit
The Brazilian is closing in on a move to Juventus.
ByEmilio Galantini Jun 22, 2024
According to Fabrizio Romano, star midfielder Douglas Luiz is set to join Juventus in a deal that will see Samuel Iling-Junior and Enzo Barrenechea come the other way, whilst a deal has reportedly been agreed to sell academy prospect Omari Kellyman to Chelsea for a hefty £19m.
Following those potential exits, meanwhile, Villa look set to turn their attention back towards incomings this summer, with a deal for Ian Maatsen also set to be completed after Lewis Dobbin.
According to The Express, Aston Villa have enquired about a deal to sign Brais Mendez from Real Sociedad, reportedly making contact with the attacking midfielder's agent. Alas, they are reportedly joined in their interest by Manchester United, AS Roma and Juventus to create a hectic race in the coming months.
"Sensational" Brais Mendez could shine at Aston Villa
A player who has spent the entirety of his career in La Liga, moving from Celta Vigo to Real Sociedad, Mendez can finally move on to kickstart Villa's summer transfer window and hand Emery the attacking depth that a Champions League side will need. The 27-year-old, who reportedly has a £52m release clause, impressed once more in Spain last season to prove that he is more than capable of pushing the likes of Moussa Diaby for a starting place if he completes a move to the Midlands.

What instantly stands out about Mendez is his ball recovery ability alongside his hand in Sociedad goals last season. Those two traits combined would make him quite the option for Emery to turn to next season.
As a result of such form during his time in Spain, the midfielder has earned plenty of praise, with Zach Lowy once dubbing the 27-year-old "sensational" as a bright spark in a season to forget for Celta Vigo in the 2018/19 campaign. Now at Sociedad, that quality has far from dwindled to more than earn a big move this summer.
In normal circumstances, Nasir Jamshed might be looking forward to his release from jail in the coming days, but it looks like things will become even more complicated for him.Jamshed, the former Pakistan batsman, was sentenced to 17 months in prison in February for his involvement in spot-fixing plans involving BPL and PSL matches. He was also banned from cricket for ten years by an anti-corruption tribunal. He is due for release on October 21.But, despite having a wife and daughter in Birmingham, he now faces the prospect of deportation back to Pakistan. Before the trial, Jamshed was in the UK on a spousal visa – his wife, Samara Afzal, was born in England – which was due for renewal in February 2019. But, with a court date impending, it was decided to put off a renewal decision until the case was decided. He has now received a notification of intention to deport and been told he would be further detained. He is appealing the decision and will apply for bail on October 21.Key to the outcome may be Jamshed’s decision to initially plead not guilty to the corruption charges. Those close to him claim this was because neither he nor his barrister were aware of the contents of a recording of a conversation between Jamshed, his accomplices, and an undercover police officer, which effectively condemned him. Once the recording was played in court, Jamshed changed his plea to guilty.By then, though, the trial had gone into a sixth day. As a consequence, there was little leniency applied in sentencing. Legal experts believe that, had Jamshed made a guilty plea in the first instance, he could have expected a sentence of under 12 months. And, with UK law stating that any non-citizen who receives a prison sentence of more than 12 months is liable for deportation, the repercussions of that decision were significant. ESPNcricinfo understands the lawyer involved has been referred to the Solicitors Regulation Authority and is currently under investigation.Jamshed is likely to learn of his immediate fate next week. It remains possible he could be deported immediately and expected to fight the decision from Pakistan.

The Argentine icon has been a revelation in the States, on and off the pitch, with his presence – while remaining fiercely competitive in pursuit of major honours – helping to raise the profile of MLS. Every game that he graces sparks a scramble for tickets, with plenty of A-list guests eager to watch him in action.
WHAT ASENSI SAID
Inter Miami co-president Xavier Asensi has told those at "The future of clubs in the new world of football' debate held at the College of Economists of Catalonia of why Messi can be likened to NBA great Jordan: “For MLS there is a before and after Messi. He has changed everything. People can be from any team, but they go to the field to see Messi. He is the only example comparable to Jordan.”

Asensi added on how the Herons set about putting a deal in place for the all-time great: “When Messi goes to Paris, a machine is turned on in my head and that of the owner to ensure that, when these two years of control are over, the United States will be the next destination.
“If we did the same thing or tried to compete head-to-head with other clubs, it would be impossible to win, because someone with more money or history than us, who had been around for three years, would come along. I went to the League and explained to them with data and tried to sell that if Messi came, it would change their lives. I went to Adidas, Fanatics and Apple.”

WHAT HAPPENED?
In the past few years, players and pundits have addressed the oversaturated football schedule frequently and it has become a major topic of discussion. Players such as Dani Carvajal, Thibaut Courtois, and Rodri have opened up about the same over the last few months. The boards of FIFPro and European Leagues, the organisations that represent clubs in over 30 nations throughout Europe, agreed to pursue legal action in July.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
FIFpro has officially lodged a complaint against FIFA, targeting the expansions of both the FIFA Club World Cup and the FIFA World Cup, which will grow to 32 teams in 2025 and 46 teams in 2026, respectively. The complaint argues that the extended football calendar violates European Union competition law, poses risks to player safety and well-being, and describes FIFA's actions as "abusive" and "unjustified."
WHAT FIFPRO EUROPE PRESIDENT SAID
Speaking to the media, FIFPro Europe president David Terrier said: "FIFA refuses to listen and engage with the players, the main labour resource of our industry, who are there on the pitch, creating a powerhouse of European and global entertainment culture, and pushing their bodies to the limit.
"But we have listened to our players, have received the same messages for a long period of time, that they are playing too much and do not have enough time to recover. Ahead of the worst season ever for workload, many have also decided to talk in public with the same message: enough is enough."

WHAT THE PREMIER LEAGUE CHIEF EXECUTIVE SAID
Earlier this month, Premier League chief executive Richard Masters said: "It is getting to a tipping point. The feedback we have from players is that there is too much football being played and there is constant expansion.
"The Premier League hasn't changed shape. What has changed over the last few decades is the march of international and regional football competitions."
Who will bowl the death overs for RCB? And how will Mumbai face the Chahal challenge?
Deivarayan Muthu27-Sep-20207:18
Should Kohli open for RCB?
Big pictureAll-new IPL season. All-new venues. Same-old Mumbai Indians. Same-old Royal Challengers Bangalore. Rohit Sharma’s side brushed off their opening-day defeat against the Chennai Super Kings, and despite the boundaries in Abu Dhabi being bigger than the ones in Mumbai, they piled up 195 against the Kolkata Knight Riders. Jasprit Bumrah, James Pattinson, and Trent Boult then executed their best-laid plans to sound out a warning to the other sides.Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers, aided by Sunrisers Hyderabad’s flaky middle order, pulled off a great escape in their opener in Dubai, but were then overpowered by Kings XI Punjab at the same venue. They will now run into the defending champions for their third game in Dubai. Two matches into IPL 2020, their issues over death-bowling and lower-middle order batting have resurfaced. The Royal Challengers’ team director Mike Hesson told the host broadcaster Star that he was averse to making too many changes this early in the season, and their premier bowler Yuzvendra Chahal played down their death-bowling woes after Kings XI pillaged 74 off their last four overs. However, with all of Dale Steyn, Shivam Dube, and Umesh Yadav leaking runs, the team management may have to veer away from their original plan and yank Mohammed Siraj and Chris Morris (if he’s fit) from the bench. Sri Lankan seam-bowling allrounder Isuru Udana, who had bowled Paarl Rocks to the MSL title in 2019, is the other death-bowling option for the Royal Challengers. In the news Morris was unavailable for the Royal Challengers’ first two games because of a side strain. It remains to be seen if he has regained full fitness. Similarly, the injured Nathan Coulter-Nile missed Mumbai’s first two matches, but he has resumed training now. It’s understood that he isn’t 100% fit yet. Mumbai are cautious about Hardik Pandya’s workload, opting against rushing him into bowling. He made cameos against Chennai Super Kings and Knight Riders, and even pulled off a stunning catch at the boundary to remove Nitish Rana, but he hasn’t bowled in top-flight cricket since September last year after undergoing back surgery.Likely XIsMumbai Indians (probable): 1 Quinton de Kock (wk), 2 Rohit Sharma (capt), 3 Suryakumar Yadav, 4 Saurabh Tiwary, 5 Kieron Pollard, 6 Hardik Pandya, 7 Krunal Pandya, 8 James Pattinson/Nathan Coulter-Nile, 9 Rahul Chahar, 10 Trent Boult, 11 Jasprit BumrahRoyal Challengers Bangalore (probable) 1 Aaron Finch, 2 Devdutt Padikkal, 3 Virat Kohli (capt), 4 AB de Villiers, 5 Josh Philippe (wk), 6 Shivam Dube, 7 Washington Sundar, 8 Dale Steyn/Chris Morris/Isuru Udana, 9 Umesh Yadav/Mohammed Siraj, 10 Yuzvendra Chahal, 11 Navdeep SainiStrategy punts de Villiers has been vulnerable to legspinners and left-arm fingerspinners in the IPL. The Kings XI matched up legspinner M Ashwin with de Villiers and had him holing out. Mumbai have Rahul Chahar in their ranks who has kept him to 14 off 13 balls. However, Krunal Pandya v de Villiers is a bigger match-up. The left-armer has got de Villiers four times in six innings while giving up just 43 runs off 43 balls. So, there’s a strong case for Mumbai to reserve their two spinners for de Villers. Much like de Villiers, Kieron Pollard seems to have a weakness against legspin. The Royals Challengers have a gun legspinner in Chahal, who has had the wood over Pollard in the IPL, taking him out four times in eight innings while conceding 49 off 37 balls. Hardik, too, hasn’t been able to get on top of Chahal, managing only 19 off 17 balls while being dismissed once. So, given RCB’s troubles in the end overs, where both Pollard and Hardik are set to bat, it may not be a bad idea to hold back an over of Chahal for this pair. Plus, Chahal has conceded only 7.6 runs an over at the death (16-20) since IPL 2019. All their seamers have conceded over nine an over in this phase from 2019, with Steyn going at 16.7 and Yadav at 13.4.Stats that matter The Royal Challengers could consider giving Moeen Ali a go in the middle order in place of either Aaron Finch or Josh Phillipe. Since IPL 2019, Ali has a balls per boundary percentage of 4.8 in the middle overs (7-15) as opposed to Kohli’s 12.2. De Villiers has fared better than Kohli in this phase, having a balls per boundary percentage of 7.5. Saini has 13 IPL wickets in 15 IPL matches, of which 10 have come at the death. He also goes at over nine an over (9.2) in the slog overs, but he does seem to have more control and variations right now than either of Steyn, Dube or Umesh. In four games played at this venue this season, teams have opted to chase and have lost on all four occasions. In 55 T20s at the Dubai international stadium since 2018, the side batting first has won 29 matches. Nobody has scored more runs than Quinton de Kock’s 353 in the powerplay since IPL 2019. He also has a fine record against the Royal Challengers, hitting 306 runs in six innings at an average of 51 and strike rate of 157.73. Since IPL 2018, the Royal Challengers have lost most wickets against legspin (42). This will be Kohli’s 150th T20 match as captain. He has so far captained the Royal Challengers 112 times, and the Indian team 37 times.
Bangladesh coach, however, feels criticism of batsmen not scoring enough runs in the tournament is “unfair”
Mohammad Isam22-Oct-2020Bangladesh coach Russell Domingo has said he is impressed by the performances of the fast bowlers in the BCB President’s Cup, a tournament which he has classified as just a part of players’ easing into competitive cricket, and not something from which big assumptions can be drawn.”I am very excited about what I have seen [in the fast bowlers],” Domingo said in a press conference on Thursday. “You look at the way Taskin [Ahmed] bowls. Every international team in white-ball cricket has a fast bowler that they call on, when they need a wicket. England calls Jofra Archer, South Africa calls [Kagiso] Rabada, Australia calls Mitchell Starc and India calls [Jasprit] Bumrah. It is great to see that we have some options now that when the game is tight we can call on someone to bowl quickly. Someone like Taskin Ahmed and Khaled [Ahmed] to bounce one or two guys out.”It is very pleasing for me. If we take one thing out of this one-day tournament, [it] is the performance of the fast bowlers. The media and public should be excited by that as we don’t want to be a one-dimensional side, especially when we go away from home. If they are making the life of the batsmen hard, I am excited. That’s okay. To win games, you have to take 10 or 20 wickets.”Domingo said quicks like Taskin, Rubel Hossain and Khaled have made most of the pandemic-induced break to work on themselves.”I can’t compliment the players enough for the work they have done in the last six or seven weeks. Look at the shape of Taskin and how Rubel is going, and Khaled who came back from a big injury; the guys have really worked hard on their fitness levels. We are trying to improve their skills and make sure that they can perform at international level.
“I think the obsession with trying to win this tournament and media wanting guys to win and perform all the time, is unrealistic considering the guys haven’t played for six or seven months.”Russell Domingo
“The biggest thing Taskin has done is change his work ethic. He is working so much harder. He is in a very good physical condition. He can bowl more than one or two spells. His comeback spells are also quick, so that’s very pleasing for us. We are pushing hard to make sure guys are bowling at good pace at 5pm and at 10am,” he said.Domingo was also full of praise for Shoriful Islam, the young left-arm quick who starred in Bangladesh’s Under-19 World Cup campaign earlier this year.”He has got some work to do and has to be taught to get the ball to swing back into the left-hander. He has some good pace and bounce and a good attitude. He is impressive. He is always smiling and wanting to learn, which are good attributes for a young fast bowler. He took a great catch yesterday [against Najmul XI in the BCB President’s Cup]. He is a confident young man, and it is always good to have left-arm seamers available.”However, Domingo said that criticism of batsmen not scoring enough runs in the tournament was not fair, calling the expectations “unrealistic” and adding that the performances in the tournament aren’t that important.”You have to remember that the guys haven’t played cricket for seven months, which is a long time without competitive cricket,” Domingo said. “There’s no doubt that the guys will get better. They will play together as a unit.”I think it is a bit unfair to say they are consistently failing. It was just six or seven months ago that we scored 320-plus against Zimbabwe in [all three games in] the one-day series. Liton got 180 [176, in the third ODI], Tamim got two hundreds, so I think it is a bit unfair. Most important thing is the guys are getting some game time.”The performances [in the BCB President’s Cup] are not important, as far as I am concerned. I think the obsession with trying to win this tournament and media wanting guys to win and perform all the time, is unrealistic considering the guys haven’t played for six or seven months,” he said. The BCB President’s Cup final, to be played between Mahmudullah XI and Najmul Hossain XI, which was due to be played on October 23, is shifted to October 25 due to inclement weather in Dhaka.
Philippe Clement has acted swiftly since the end of the season, making two signings already for Glasgow Rangers as he seeks to strengthen his squad ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
Jefte and Oscar Cortes are the two arrivals at Ibrox as Clement’s transfer strategy begins to emerge; signing talented youngsters who could develop into sellable assets further down the line.
Oscar Cortes
This philosophy makes sense. Hopefully, the days of signing players in their late 20s/early 30s on bumper three or four-year contracts are long gone. Instead, a new model will be put in place from this summer onwards. One that could see Rangers close the financial gulf to Celtic.
Money might not always be spent on incomings, with several players who are out of contract targeted, including a young centre-back who is on the books at AC Milan…
Rangers transfer news
As revealed by the Gallant View podcast earlier this week, the Ibrox side are showing interest in Clinton Nsiala as they aim to secure his signature on a free transfer from Milan.
With Clement’s budget for the transfer window unknown, he may have to rely on exploring players who are out of contract, which means Nsiala could arrive in Glasgow for nothing.
While interest is there for the youngster, it remains to be seen whether he fancies making the move to Scotland, although it looks as though he may have a better chance at playing at Rangers.
It wouldn’t be the first time that the Gers have signed a talented defender for nothing, as the likes of Calvin Bassey, Leon Balogun and John Souttar cost nothing in transfer fees.

Should Nsiala sign for the Light Blues, he could potentially be an ideal partner for Souttar, especially with Connor Goldson’s future up in the air.
Why Rangers could sell Connor Goldson this summer
According to Saudi Arabian outlet Al-Riyadiya, former Rangers manager Steven Gerrard – who is now in charge of Al-Ettifaq – is keen on making a move for Goldson this summer.
Not only that, but James Tavernier is also being lined up for a reunion with his old boss. The duo are on the wrong side of 30 and, as the Ibrox faithful saw towards the end of last season, their performances dropped significantly as Celtic pipped the club to the Premiership and Scottish Cup.
Connor Goldson
Moving on Goldson could see Souttar return to his favoured slot as a right centre-back, which will allow Nsiala to play as the left-sided centre-back, and it could make for a solid partnership.
John Souttar's 2023/24 season in numbers
The former Hearts defender missed practically the entire 2022/23 season after suffering an ankle injury just 45 minutes into his league debut for the Light Blues.
The 2023/24 campaign was much more productive. Souttar showed resilience way beyond his 27 years in order to fully recover and make 41 appearances for Rangers in all competitions, even chipping in with two goals and two assists.
John Souttar
The Scot ranked third among his teammates for accurate passes per game (58.3) in the top flight, along with ranking second for interceptions (1) and for clearances (3.5) per game, showing how solid he was at the heart of the defence.
These performances came after he was regularly deployed alongside Goldson in the left centre-back slot.
If the Englishman does leave, it could leave a gap in which Souttar could fill, allowing Clement to bring in a left-sided defender who is comfortable on the ball and can build play from the back.
What Clinton Nsiala could offer Rangers
While he has shown plenty of promise, the former French U16 starlet has yet to make his first team debut for Milan, mainly playing at U19 level for the Italian giants.
Last season, the 20-year-old made 40 appearances for the U19 side in both the UEFA Youth League and in the Primavera 1, registering four goals and two assists.
This shows he could add a few goals into the side from the heart of the defence – similar to Souttar – but his abilities go way beyond that.
Throughout the 2023/24 season for Milan U19s, Nsiala finished with an impressive 87% pass success rate while also averaging 5.1 accurate long balls per game, evidence that his passing is among one of his finer attributes.
The youngster also averaged 3.2 interceptions per game along with averaging a staggering 10.8 ball recoveries per game while winning 6.8 total duels each match.
These statistics certainly indicate that the defender has plenty of promise, but they came during an U19 league season rather than a top flight league.
Earlier this year, scout Ruairi Criscuolo profiled Nsiala, saying that Nsiala was “another exciting French prospect” before also saying: “As well as short passing he has the vision and ability to spot runners and find them with his long passes.
“Tall and powerful enough to be a threat in the box.”
It would be a major gamble for Clement to bring him to Ibrox and deploy him in the starting XI straight away, yet he has clearly demonstrated plenty of potential during his spell with Milan and this is the type of profile in which the Belgian must sign this summer.
Experienced players will be required during the transfer window, but having a mix of old and young players could be the perfect recipe for success next season.
Souttar is coming into his peak years as a defender and if he can maintain his form from last season, there is no doubt he will be one of the first names on the team sheet for Clement.
Clement could wave bye-bye to Goldson as Rangers eye 20 y/o colossus
The Light Blues are reportedly interested in a deal to sign the centre-back this summer.
ByDan Emery Jun 5, 2024
A change of mentality is needed ahead of next term, especially considering how badly the club stuttered when the pressure was on during the final few weeks of last season.
Perhaps making some bold calls in the transfer market could be a good thing for Clement and his backroom staff, going against the grain by luring talented youngsters who could make an impression if given a chance.
As always, Manchester United have been linked with numerous players already this summer as Sir Jim Ratcliffe looks to transform the club.
However, the most concrete name to have been mentioned is Jarrad Branthwaite, who currently plays for Everton.
The English defender is valued extremely highly and unless the Toffees' valuation drops, a move is unlikely.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at a United centre-back target who could be just as good as Branthwaite.
Man Utd want to sign a centre-back
As per a report from TEAMtalk, Man Utd are interested in signing Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace.
It’s said that United are currently ‘front of the queue’ to sign him due to the fact that Aaron Wan-Bissaka could go the other way as part of a swap deal.
Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.
A fee in excess of £50m will be required, but that number will come down in the event that the former Eagle is included in any deal.
Luckily for the Red Devils, it’s mentioned that Guehi is open to the move as he looks to progress his career.
How Guehi compares to Branthwaite
Ever since moving to Palace in 2021, Guehi has cemented himself as one of the most reliable centre half’s in the entire Premier League.
Last season, the England international featured 25 times for the Eagles, but a knee injury in February disrupted the second half of his campaign.
Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.
The former Chelsea man missed 88 days and 13 games in total, but he recovered just in time for the end of the season and, most importantly, for the Three Lions’ European Championship camp.
Thankfully, Guehi was able to impress Gareth Southgate and was included in the final selection, and due to the absence of Harry Maguire, the number six started alongside John Stones in their 1-0 opening victory over Serbia.

Stepping up to play on the biggest stage was absolutely no problem for the defender, even becoming a hero for his exceptional performance, which earned him a 7/10 rating from FFC.
Serbia 0-1 England: Player ratings from Three Lions' Euro 2024 opener

The defender was composed throughout, playing a key role in buildup, rarely losing possession, and remaining solid at the heart of the England backline.
This gives a huge indication that he’s more than ready to play for a Champions League-level club week in, week out, but as you can see from his averages in the Premier League, his quality is nothing new.
Marc Guehi for England
What you can also see from his overall statistics is that he’s just as good as Branthwaite, particularly in possession.
Their defensive approach is slightly different, with Guehi often only making challenges when necessary, and the environment he plays in will have an impact on the stats.
Furthermore, considering whoever United sign will play alongside Lisandro Martinez, Guehi may prove to be a better fit, due to the fact that he’s a right-footed centre-back, unlike Branthwaite.
On top of that, it’s crazy to think that Guehi is only 23 years old, especially due to his maturity and leadership qualities that he shows while wearing the armband at Selhurst Park.
Overall, the two Englishmen are fantastic, and not much separates them at all, but given that Guehi would be a cheaper option and he’ll likely continue to shine for England, he could prove to be a better option.

Narine had expressed surprise after he was reported for suspect action in the match against Kings XI
Nagraj Gollapudi18-Oct-2020
Sunil Narine’s bowing action was reported after Kolkata Knight Riders’ match against Kings XI Punjab•BCCI
Hours before their match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday, Kolkata Knight Riders have been told by the IPL that Sunil Narine’s action has been cleared and taken off the warning list.In a media statement issued on Sunday, the IPL said Narine had been “cleared” by tournament’s Suspect Bowling Action Committee. The committee comprises Rahul Dravid, ICC match referee Javagal Srinath, former ICC umpire K Hariharan and BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal.”KKR requested for an official assessment of Mr Narine’s action from the IPL Suspect Bowling Action Committee, submitting action footage in slow motion with back and side angles,” the IPL statement said. “The Committee carefully reviewed all the deliveries of action footage sent of Mr Narine with the naked eye and has come to the conclusion that the elbow-bend appears to be within the range of permissible limits.”Both Narine and Knight Riders had expressed surprise after the bowler was put on the warning list by the IPL immediately after he played a match-winning role in thrilling two-run victory against Kings XI Punjab on October 10.Narine was reported by the on-field umpires Ulhas Gandhe and Chris Gaffaney, with the suspect action occurring during the last over of the match, bowled by Narine, when Kings XI needed 14 runs for victory. The IPL did not specify which type of delivery Narine was reported for. However ESPNcricinfo understands that the IPL referenced all of the four overs Narine bowled against Kings XI in its official report. On October 10 the IPL had said the Narine was permitted to continue playing, but if he were to be reported again, he would be suspended from bowling for the rest of the IPL. In what seemed like a precautionary move, the franchise rested Narine, who is understood to have worked with his personal spin coach Carl Crowe in rectifying his action for the type of delivery that was reported.Crowe and Narine have worked together ever since the offspinner was reported for the first time in IPL in 2015. Incidentally that was the second time Narine’s action had come under the scanner after he was reported for suspect bowling action during the Champions League T20 in 2014. In 2015 Narine was temporarily banned from delivering offbreaks, but was cleared subsequently by one of the ICC’s accredited testing centres.Busy remodelling his bowling action, Narine missed out on selection for West Indies for the 2015 Wold Cup and the 2016 World T20. Narine then missed out on featuring in the 2019 World Cup after he said a finger injury in his bowling hand did not allow him to bowl in ODIs. Narine last played for West Indies during the home T20 series against India in Guyana, last August. It is understood one big reason the Knight Riders were surprised after Narine was pulled up this time was because Crowe has been included in the franchise support staff specifically to work with Narine this season in the UAE.Although Narine is free to bowl, the IPL has noted his action would be under the scanner. “The Committee also noted that Mr. Narine should reproduce the same action going forward in the IPL 2020 matches as presented to the Committee in the video footage. Mr Narine has now been removed from the IPL Suspect Action Warning List,” the statement said.
